O’Reilly 304, taking its name from its address in Old Havana is one of Havana’s newest and hottest bar-restaurants. Specialising in gins, it is one of the only Gin Bar-Restaurants in Havana, its decorative and thematic inspiration coming from an East London hipster style bar. However, 304 O’Reilly’s charm lies not in its imported styles but in its authentic addition of a Cuban twist to the Gin Bar- Restaurant.
304 O’ Reilly, made up of two small floors, with only eight tables is at full capacity throughout the day, it’s fairly priced, full flavoured food and beautifully presented, bizarre cocktail concoctions pulling in both Cubans and tourists alike.
The food menu consists of two parts, the full plate options and the tapas portions of food. Whether passing by for a nibble or a bite 304 O’Reilly will not leave you wanting. The tapas varies from ceviche, crab curry and tacos through to bruschetta and empanadas, all made to an extremely high quality with hard-to-come-by ingredients in Cuba. The full plate meals vary from traditional and well presented Cuban cuisine such as chicken, rice and beans, to experimental pasta and prawn based dishes.
The exciting list of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages must be mentioned apart, in ode to their stunning presentation, bursting flavours and refreshing effects. The pineapple and ginger juice provides the health kick and energy burst needed to walk around the old part of the city for hours, the mango and chilli daiquiri tantalises your tastebuds perfectly and the traditional Cuban cocktails all come with exciting twists.
Listed as one of the top bar-restaurants in Havana across travel sites, 304 O’Reilly is not to be missed. And— if you’re a lovely lady, you may just get a flower by the wonderful bartenders upon leaving. Be sure to book in advance to ensure a table!
