The world premiere of Latidos (Heartbeats) by Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba gets to Gran Teatro de La Habana every weekend of May starting next Saturday 13th.
The nine-act piece intends to break away from preconceptions of classical ballet in order to add up original and daring steps from contemporary techniques under the indispensable music by Cuban saxophonist César López.
“A creation that will be different, with many paths for experimentation,” said master Lizt Alfonso regarding the piece which will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the company’s foundation.
After almost a decade without premiering an eminently dance show, Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba, first fusion style to perform in the Latin Grammy Awards ceremony, launches to the world a show that “was born in a contrast between life and death (…) picking up things that are needed to carry on beating”.
Along with Vida (Life), Alas (Wings) and Amigas (Friends), Latidos promises to complete the exquisite choreographic list of this artistic entity which, in just a quarter of a century, has captivated more than twenty international stages.
Share this authentic expression of Cuban dance where elegance, experience and mastery come together.
