El Espejo: The Theater’s Voice
During the whole month of February, Ludi Teatro’s company, will be presenting in the Tito Junco Room inside of the Bertolt Brecht’s Theater a debut, entitled “El Espejo” (The Mirror).
This is called to be an innovative proposal, that taking for main platform the codes of the radio serials, will show a theater with a narrator, sound effects and all the other elements that compose a radial production. The actors themselves are going to be doing the voices, the music and the sounds, to transmit the
audience a creation conceived only to hear the theater’s voice.
Decoding symbols and signs of the Cuban society, misogyny and religion are some of the themes, that “El Espejo’’ will offer. It’s a modern version of the play “El Peine y El Espejo” (The Comb and The Mirror) from the dramaturge Abelardo Estorino, play that in 1960 would open him the doors to become a paradigm of Cuban scenic arts.
“El Espejo” is under the charge of Marian Montero, who used to be an actress of Ludi Theater, now becoming the major responsible of this novel play. Her talent is already recognized and well received since her last production “Night Club”, a creation that stole the applauses from the audience the past year.
Miguel Abreu, head director of the company and ex member of the Buendia Theater group, founded Ludi Teatro in 2014 and since then, it remains on the top of the best theatrical groups rankers in Cuba. Proven once more, with “El Espejo”
