More than a decade has gone since Bamboleo was founded, and still it’s considered one of the favourite bands among salsa followers. The keyboard player Lázaro Valdés, who conceived in the ninety’s the idea of establishing the band, has led it both national and international tours.
Bamboleo became one of the first bands on enriching the traditional Salsa and Timba formats, taking from Jazz, Bolero and Ballad. Such rhythmic innovation earned it several times the local recognition Revelación del Año, not to mention it represented Cuba in 15th edition of Jazz Plaza Festival.
One of remarkable elements of the band is its female voices, which besides expanding its musical range, distinguishes Bamboleo in front of other popular music bands. Bamboleo has launched top singers such as Haila María Mompié, Vania Borges and Tania Pantoja, thus emphasizing on potential of female interpreters.
In the latest years the band has shifted toward a fresh sonority as result of a musical work coming from youngster instrumentalists as much as its main singers Ianna and Aylín.
Bamboleo is an invitation for those dancers that not even losing their breath walk away from the dance floor. If you´re not one of them don´t mind, it´s enough if you´re crazy about Cuban music.
