In the 1950s the Bar/Cafeteria El Rintintin was born. The name was devised for the sound of coins falling into the cash register. Without relinquishing the unusual name, another more prosperous business has flourished in its place: El Rintintin Hostel / Restaurant, located in Cuba’s beautiful historic city of Trinidad, Sancti Spíritus Province.
The dishes, prepared with culinary skill, include fresh shellfish and fish brought from the nearby southern coast. Here you’ll find the incomparable Rintintin butterfly lobster, enchiladas, lobster rings fried with garlic or grilled, and crabs in their juice.
If you prefer the usual, then choose grilled chicken topped with sauce, beefsteak and vegetable soup. Each one is seasoned with the Rintintin stamp and recommended by TripAdvisor.
A Cuban flag ripples at the top of the terrace, and contagious live traditional music, performed by local virtuoso artists, flows from within.
From the terrace you can see the surrounding city center and Trinidad’s famous main square, Plaza Mayor, is only meters away. In the evenings you can enjoy a beautiful sunset, an unforgettable experience that may well be accompanied with refreshing tropical fruit juices or delicious Cuban coffee.
But you must be especially careful as an occasional visit can become a vice and you will want to return and stay in El Rintintin’s comfortable rooms to relive the experience on a daily basis.
