Juan Guillermo Almeida González, or JG, is a young and charismatic musician of self-educated formation born in 1987, who has also won popularity in Cuban musical panorama.
Regardless of growing up surrounded by a musical environment, he didn’t get over into music until 2007, when he joined to Cuban group “Gente de Zona”, while he was in third year of Law’s major, winning self-reliance and confidence on the stage during numerous concerts offered in Cuba and other countries. From that date he decided to study music and to receive singing classes.
At the end of the year 2009 he separated from the group and began the adventure of creating his own project, and he took more interest for Cubans rhythms like Son, Salsa and Timba. All this without dropping out of university; he took up at the same time his education and his music group until graduated.
“Empezar de Zero” was the first album by JG and his group. The second album, “Que no me controlen”, with Kelvis Ochoa, Charanga Habanera, Cándido Fabré and Laritza Bacallao, proves already a disposition for getting something soberer, funny, in harmony with the juvenile wave; but still holding the same sonority concepts.
The group offers a personal sound that has deserved the slogan of “it sounds the way it is seen”, which accompanies its graphic image, in order to give a very close idea of this singer’s freshness and charm personality, who has came to refresh the delicious and always renewed Cuban salsa.
